Quest for the Dress: I've Decided (I think).
I've decided on Vogue 2627 and Vogue 2134. We're going to combine the two patterns. We'll use the top of 2627 with all of that cool draping, and the princess-seamed skirt of 2134. I am very pleased with this, since I don't really want a bias-cut (read: clingy) skirt for the dress, but I love, love, love the detailing on the top of 2627. This skirt from 2134 a fitted, slim, A-line with princess seams falling from the empire waist (both dresses have an empire waistline). I am quite happy about the skirt, since one thing I distinctly disliked about the strapless A-line dresses I tried on (and loved) at David's was hauling all those skirts around. And given my usual (daily) propensity for sweeping knick-knacks off of end-tables and getting the pockets of my pants caught on door jambs, it would probably be best, and safest for everyone in attendance if I didn't wear a big skirt.
I bought 2134 on sale at JoAnn's (75% off) and my mom picked up 2627. We're going to meet up Wednesday morning (early) for another fitting session on the underpinnings, and I'll hand off 2134 and Francesca (my sewing dummy) to my mom.
Lastly, in Quest for the Dress news, I bought shoes at the Outlets in Vegas when Jared and I went up there to check out the chapel and arrangements at the MGM Grand. They are satin sling-backs. My mother and I are going to applique the lace from the gown over the shoes so they'll match.
